People see the Little Jack at cat shows and they absolutely fall in love with it. They wish they had room in the car to take it home.
The Little Jack is a unique cat tree inspired by the fairytale Jack-n-the-beanstalk. The tree is five feet tall and the top is made to resemble a ‘cloud’ so your cat can climb the beanstalk (cat tree) and go above the ‘cloud’ were it will find a padded resting area. The trunk has a serpentine vine circling from the bottom to the top that your cat can climb or scratch. There are six large contoured leaves molded to hug and hold your cat in comfort. There is an extra thermal liner on the top and in each leaf that will absorb your cats’ body heat and radiate it back for that “Oh so good feeling”.

We all know the more you buy of just about anything the less you pay per unit cost. If you can apply this principle to buying pet food you can save money. You should try to buy pet food in the largest quantity possible because you know buying the same amount over time in smaller quantities will cost you more. This practice will give you a larger quantity than you can reasonably use so you should try to split the food and cost with a pet-owning neighbor, friend or family member.

If you live in the Chicago Land area you may be able to eliminate the cost of shipping a new cat tree which could be a substantial savings. Great Lakes Pet Furniture will be participating in the Chicagoland Family Pet Expo at Arlington Park March 19 to 21, 2010.
If you order a cat tree and will plan to pick it up at the Arlington show we would be happy to bring it and save you the shipping cost. If you are interested in this savings we encourage you to get your order in as soon as possible so we can get your cat tree into the production schedule and be sure to have it by show time.
Several times a month we answer questions about making design or color changes to our cat trees and other cat furniture. We always try to be most accommodating and if there is any way we can satisfy the customers’ request we will certainly do that.
Result of a special request
The most common request is to change carpet color. Generally we tell people if you see a color we are using on any cat tree we can put that color where you want it. The only general exception is using the color black. Black carpet doesn’t look good when it goes around a sharp edge. That’s because too much of the backing shows and there is so much contrast you really do notice, so its better to avoid using black on a sharp turn. Other than that, we are happy to modify the color scheme for customers. We do charge a one time $25.00 set up fee for the new color.
Another frequent request is to change the design slightly. Many people will ask if we can make a cat tree slightly taller or a little shorter. And the answer to that is always yes. Before we accept the order for a change of this nature we always communicate with the customer to let them know if that change will affect any other part of the cat tree. For example – someone asks to make a cat tree eight inches shorter. We can do that, but it may result in eliminating a hole and a cubby. We want to make sure the customer knows what effect the change will have on the whole cat tree before just accepting the request and doing it. In many of these cases we go back and say “eight inches will eliminate the hole, but if we only reduce it six inches we can keep the hole – what would you like to do?”
Be aware that these type of changes are available and we welcome your requests. The best way to find out if we can do it is to email us. That will also give us the opportunity to let you know if the change would result in a higher fee, or in some cases it can actually be a savings.
Last week we published a post that linked to past date issues of our Newsletters which contained articles on what features you should look for when buying a cat tree for a particular breed of cat. In that post we provided information for the Bengal, Abyssinian, Persian and Pixiebob. This now is a continuation of that first post.
We all know that different cat breeds have different characteristics and idiosyncrasies. You cannot say “one cat tree fits all”. So what features should you look for? Here are some additional links to past Newsletters addressing what you should be looking for in a cat tree based on your breed:

Most kittens prefer to have their own cat bed. They like something comfortable, something that will keep them warm, and something that will give them a sense of security when they are resting or sleeping.
Button Cat Bed
The small cat beds produced by Great Lakes Pet Furniture satisfy all three of these needs. First, the center of each cat bed is padded so its more comfortable to lie on. Second, the center of the cat bed is lined with a heat retention layer that absorbs and radiates back your cats’ body heat for maximum comfort. And third, the bed is 5 inches deep so when your cat is laying down inside it can’t help but have a secure feeling.
Best of all … these cat beds are very affordable. The same high quality material that goes into all of their trees is also used for the cat beds, and each bed is individually hand crafted to ensure quality. Go online to see the various styles and to place your order today for a high quality cat bed.
Looking for the ultimate cat tower gym? This 7 foot tall indestructible piece of cat furniture may just fit the bill. Not only will it be the center of conversation, but it will also be the center of activity.
The five levels of cat perches, cubby holes, and pass throughs provide endless opportunity for your cat(s) to enjoy this unique cat tree whether resting or playing. This is one way to make sure your cat(s) gets enough exercise to keep muscles and joints in shape and to keep those extra pounds off that can be so devastating to overall cat health.
The “Eagles Nest” at the top of this cat tree is one of our most popular tops. It surrounds your cat in comfort with its padded thermal lined center and the 3″ to 6″ high ridge around the top provides something to snuggle against. There are a total of nine holes positioned in the trunk to maximize the exploring activity that cats’ just love to engage in. An extra wide base gives this cat tree great stability.
