A good cat tree will stimulate your cat both physically and mentally and provide a means to optimal health.  Without physical stimulation a cat can

become sluggish, lazy, and put on weight which can lead to multiple other problems mostly medical and expensive.  Mental stimulation is necessary so your cat will not become bored, because when it does, it looks to create excitement in ways owners don’t necessarily appreciate.

If your cat is a few pounds overweight, or has developed a behavioral problem, and you have eliminated any medical reason with your veterinarian, a new cat tree may be the cure you are looking for.

In order for a cat tree to be a source of exercise it should be at least five feet tall with several layers the cat moves between to reach the top.  A little stimulation from you with a toy or laser will keep the cat moving and provide quality play time.  A tree that has holes leading into cubbies, or holes for pass throughs on various levels provide diversity and help stimulate your cat mentally and prevents boredom.  Hiding toys or treats on or in the tree is a great way to both challenge and reward your cat at the same time.
